FC PORTO-SP. BRAGA, 2-0 (McCarthy 23', Derlei 82')

O FC Porto iniciou a defesa do título de campeão com uma vitória nas Antas por 2-0 sobre o Sporting Braga. Os campeões nacionais inauguraram o marcador aos 23 minutos: Nuno Valente cobrou um livre, Quim defendeu para a frente e McCarthy, oportuno, fez a recarga vitoriosa. Aos 82 minutos, Derlei, após cruzamento largo de Jankauskas, resolveu a partida.

That's a good idea, so here we can talk about the whole league during all the season. ;)

My comments to the results until now:

Week 1

Belenenses-E. Amadora (PM)
-Nothing to say, hope they solve this issue soon. :p :rolleyes:

Académica-Sporting (1-2)
-Good game by Académica, a little bit of luck of Sporting cause the most fair result was the draw.

Marítimo-Beira-Mar (1-0)
-Don't see the goal yet but it's a normal result.

Moreirense-Rio Ave (1-0)
-Another normal result, Moreirense is always a difficult team when he plays at home.

Nacional-P. Ferreira (2-0)
-Also nothing special to say about this result, but i have to admitt that beating P.Ferreira is not so easy as that cause they have always a good team every year.

Gil Vicente-Alverca (0-1)
-A surprise victory of Alverca, seems they're back to the 1rst Division with a good team.

Boavista-Benfica (0-0)
-Well this was really a though game, lots of fouls, much time lost by some players in the ground... it's our league.:p Anyway i think this result is fair, both teams don't deserved to win the game, but even with that Boavista was the team that had the best chances to score.

FC Porto-Sp. Braga (2-0)
-An expected victory by FCP...:p ;) Seriously Porto can play much better than what he played today, Braga was a though opponent and they are probably gonna make a great season this year. Anyway we were the best team and we scored the goals in the right times.

V.Guimarães-U.Leiria (18 August)
-Let's wait to see, but honestly i think Guimarães will win this game, they have a very strong team this year and i really expect a great season of Guimarães.

Yeah finally this issue is solved so we are gonna play that game (finally! :p), the Portuguese Football Federation (known as FPF) decided today at the end of the day that E.Amadora is able to play in the Portuguese Superliga now cause this case is closed(it seems like that... :rolleyes: ).

So the game will be played at 19:00(GMT), 24 August (Sunday) and it will be live in RTP(Public Portuguese TV).

Futebol: Conselho de Justiça da FPF considerou improcedente protesto da Naval

O Conselho de Justiça da Federação Portuguesa de Futebol julgou improcedente o pedido da Naval 1º de Maio para que fosse repetido o jogo com o Rio Ave, correspondente à última jornada do campeonato da II Liga, da época passada. Neste quadro, a Naval 1º de Maio, da Figueira da Foz, mantém-se na II Liga de Honra e o Estrela da Amadora na SuperLiga. Assim, os estrelistas defrontam o FC Porto no domingo, às 19 horas, na Amadora e a Naval recebe o Estoril Praia. Os dois jogos correspondem à segunda jornada da SuperLiga e II Liga de Honra. A Naval baseou o protesto no facto de o jogo com o Rio Ave, que terminou empatado, ter acabado dois minutos antes do tempo regulamentar, enquanto o Estrela da Amadora vencia o Portimonense por 3-2. Com estes resultados, o Estrela da Amadora ascendeu à SuperLiga e a Naval continuou na II Liga de Honra. Se a Naval ganhasse subia de divisão. O primeiro protesto foi feito para a Liga de Clubes que o julgou improcedente. O recurso para a Federação Portuguesa de Futebol teve o mesmo fim. Ainda se desconhece o teor do acórdão do Conselho de Justiça da Federação.

Nuno, I can see as a good reasonable transfer, but I'm skeptical on Flavio.

Nuno Assis is awesome! Great signing this would be. Flavio is also a good player, but he'll be on the bench for us. Good transfer overall IMO, will add good depth..

you were talking about alverca victory upthere....let me tell you about the guy who scored the goal...is name is Rodolfo Lima he is 23 years old....3 seasons ago he was playing alongside a friend of mine in Trajouce (small vilage between lisboa and cascais) in the regionals

and as i read in Record...he scored 9 goals in Pre-season...so he could be one of the stars in this year superliga

The Portuguese press says that Liedson(Brazilian striker) is near to sign with Sporting, he's 25 years old and he's on loan playing at Corinthians at this moment.

Looks like Alverca finally went down 1-0 to Maritimo.

Estrela De Amadora I think could surprise some people in the league and get into possibly even the top 10, I think they have a team strong enough to do it, especially with the signing of Sabry.

Is he any good? I'm a bit afraid that we're going to run around rapidly until we just find any player who plays up front. Does anyone have any news on Niculae's condition btw?

I've seen him a few times when they show Brazilian League on Fox Sports World.....he's pretty good, but I think there might have been better European based options. Who knows though..

I don't know why no one is persuing Dario. If I was Santos I'd buy him up from Academica, it'd be no heat off the wage bill, and from the 15 thousand plus we have to spend, it'd be practically nothing off that, 2 million at best.

And Lourenco is starting to show real class, I hope none of the big clubs go for him, and that if he does go it's even more then Ronaldo.

LOL Lourenço may score a few goals but I wouldnt bet him to become a world class player, he is very hardworking but anyone who sees him play a few times can tell he is very limited technically, and also short for a striker.

BENFICA 2-0 V.GUIMARÃES
-Very low quality game and the only guilty of this victory is Guimarães cause they were so stupid in that penalty :kader: (in this case Guga), Benfica have to play much better than today to eliminate Lazio next wednesday. :crazyboy:

SPORTING 4-2 BELENENSES
-I only saw the first half but i think Sporting deserved the victory, let's see what happens in his next game of the league... :p ;)

U.LEIRIA 0-2 ACADÉMICA
-Not a shocking result, i think Académica have a good team this year and they have already proved that against Sporting, besides they were unlucky in that game.

Do tell me how Academica were unlucky against Sporting? If anything they were lucky Sporting hadn't put away more goals in the second half. Silva hit the bar and just narrowly hit the ball over about 20 times in that game. If Academica were unlucky to lose, then they were unlucky to keep from relegation.

I totally agree with Virgo. Lourenço's nothing special..

I think Sporting is improving each game...Benfica were very luky and that "****ing" penalty...BTW the tactics used by Benfica made good results. They lunch to the papers that they are interested in some Guimarães plaers and then they don't play anything. the same happen last year before Benfica visits Moreirense and Braga. I'll bet that in the next matches they will be interested in Dário (nexty week Académica-Benfica), then in Antchouet (week 4 : Benfica-Belenenses) and in the next in Deco( :crazyboy: )...

Anchouet eh? hmmm....that would be a good signing for us! ....and Soderstrom would certainly be a hell of a lot better than Aguiar :D

Please, including our new signings, that team is just over half strength. With a full healthy squad (something we haven't had in years) IMO we are the best team in Portugal
